1. Was Geneva pushing Jurzie too hard after the accident?
2. Was Jurzie wrong for helping Elias get home, or did Kaige overreact?
3. Was Kaige too hard on Donya, considering she has an illness?
4. Should Kaige have given Trell a second chance in their friendship?
5. Was Lance too hard on Kaige regarding the situation with Paris?
6. Do you feel like Geneva was genuinely trying to protect her children, or was she more ashamed of where she came from?
7. How would you have handled Larisa when placed in that position?
8. Did Kaige let Geneva off the hook too easily?
9. Do you think Geneva was genuinely remorseful for getting Lance locked up?
Yes, because she wanted her to get better on her time, insteaD of being supportive she pushed her and frustrated her. Luckily she has Keturah to push her in a positive way.
Jurzie wasn’t wrong for helping, but her feeling indebted to him made her do too much. She didn’t have to stay with him, she could have left him a note. And honestly she could have called him an Uber...Kaige’s reaction was normal, especially since he didn’t have all the facts.
Kaige was hard on Donya but he doesn’t have the necessary training to deal with her illness so it’s not wrong. He saw how it hurt his father to keep letting her in and he had to make a better decision for himself and his brothers.
Nope. He handled Trell perfectly. Once a person shows you who they are, believe them.
Lance was hard on Kaige out of his own guilt…I’m glad he apologized to him.
I think Geneva was genuine in her attempts but because she was so un-healed by her past, her attempts were misguided. A lot of parents do that…give their kids what they didn’t have growing up instead of teaching them what they didn’t know.
I would have sent Larissa on her way after telling her about herself. If we’re friends then keep it real with me, don‘t take advantage of my vulnerability.
No. Kaige handled himself well in the situation. Ultimately Geneva was just doing her job, the issue is more on the public defender for not presenting evidence. Her attitude didn‘t help at all though.
I do; I think people have those jobs and get so wrapped up in doing what feels right to them that they overlook things like overworked public defenders…in her case if a woman is crying about her abuser, Geneva was responsible to bring him to justice. The defense should have proved he was innocent. Either way I think her conscience kicked in and rightfully so.
Loved this book, can’t wait for the next one.
Yes, because Jurzie came around on her on time. Mainly thanks to Keturah. She needed patience, understanding and acceptance from Geneva.
No, they had history aside from dating. I think she was reacting to feeling indebted to him and sorry that she hurt him. Kaige should have put his pride to side and went with her. He didn’t know what Elias was capable of.
No, he had his brother to protect. She was too inconsistent, and chose to be that way by not being medicated.
No, Kaige had too much too jeopardize and still looked out. He saw Trell for who he was and moved accordingly.
Yes, Kaige was doing to best he could while considering both Paris and his dad. There was nothing his dad being locked up. He trusted Kaige thus far, he should have continued to do so.
Even though she loves her husband, it seems as if she has some unresolved trauma from Malcolm and her mom. I think its a mixture of both protection and shame.
I would have told her, i do not share the shame feelings and asked if she could leave, definitely wouldn’t go clubbing with her. She tried to take advantage of Jurzie in a vulnerable moment.
I think he handled her just fine. He was aware of himself and his position in Jurzie’s life. He didn’t have to fight evil with evil.
No, i think she realized Kaige really wasn’t going anywhere, then they had a baby and maybe did it to gain more favorability with her daughter and Kaige. Like a she saved the day moment.
